Rochester Early Music Festival

The Rochester Early Music Festival celebrates Rochester and Western New York's richly varied culture of Early Music performance and scholarship. Now in its 17th year, the REMF brings together soloists and ensembles playing music of the Medieval period through the Baroque. Eight days of exciting events will be spread over two long weekends (Nov. 2 - 5 and 16 - 19).  The REMF strives to bring this glorious repertoire to a broad audience by facilitating performances in venues throughout Rochester, available for nominal ticket prices or a free-will offering. Don't miss the capstone Gala concert on November 17, 2017: a night of musical offerings from artists and ensembles throughout the region, truly representing the musical treasures of the past.

Our Events page is now online; see link to the left. To see the details page for a particular event, please click on either the event Title or the associated Image!

We are delighted to list the the Eastman Opera Theatre's production of Claudio Monteverdi's L’incoronazione di Poppea, directed by Paul O'Dette. This production will be staged at Kilbourn Hall November 2-5, the first weekend of the REMF, and dovetails perfectly with our calendar of events. More information, including ticket sales, can be found here, by scrolling down to November, 2017.

We also list, on November 11, a concert of music by Michael Praetorious, produced by historical trombonist and Eastman alumnus Liza Malamut, and Stephen Kennedy, director of the Christ Church Schola Cantorum. The concert will feature the beautiful music of Praetorius performed by the Schola Cantorum and a period orchestra of sackbuts, cornetti, strings, organ, natural trumpets, and more.
