The evening will present a wide variety of vocal and instrumental music from the Renaissance and early Baroque periods in Europe. Click here to view a draft of the program.
Musica Spei has chosen to present this wide variety of music and styles in a PRISM concert, allowing the music to flow between groups with minimal interruption. Chorally, we will hear everything from solo chant at the opening to a closing number combining the singers of both Musica Spei and the Cathedral Choir School in a piece for two antiphonal choirs. Choral selections will also be woven in amidst the instrumental pieces by the Collegium Musicum string ensemble, as well as individual performances by Christel Thielmann, Deborah Fox and Bonnie Choi. Bridging the mediums, Elizabeth Phillips will sing two Purcell arias, accompanied by James Bobb and Anna Hendrickson (oboe).
There will be a brief intermission, and a reception will follow, encouraging performers and audience to end the evening in conversation about this wonderful music.
